FALL RIVER … Emily Freitas Pontes, 83, of Fall River died Thursday, February 3, 2011 after a long illness.
She was the wife of Edward M. Pontes.
She died at Catholic Memorial Home, Fall River.
She was born in Fall River a daughter of the late Joao C. and Ermilinda (DePonte) Freitas and had been a lifelong resident of this city.
She was employed as a sewing machine operator for both the former Harley and Charmon Lady.
She was a communicant of Espirito Santo Church, Alden Street, Fall River.
Mrs. Pontes enjoyed knitting, sewing, crocheting, and arts and crafts.
Survivors include her husband of 61years, a son Paul E. Pontes of Mansfield, 2 grandchildren: Nicole Lee Pontes and Shawn Edward Pontes, 3 great grandchildren: Emmalynda Lee Pontes, Joshua Edward Pontes, and Shawn Payton Pontes, several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Mary Freitas Rodrigues, Alice Freitas Viveiros, John C. Freitas, Jr., and Sam Freitas.
Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be held Thursday at 9AM from the SOUTH COAST FUNERAL HOME, 1555 Pleasant Street, Fall River followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM at Espirito Santo Church, Alden Street, Fall River.
