TORONTO CANADA – Maria I. (Couto) Resendes, wife of the late Manuel Resendes, died at St. Joseph’s Health Care Center in Toronto, Canada on Feb. 1, 2011.
She was 80 years old.
Born in St. Michael, Azores, she was the daughter of the late Manuel and Maria (Melo) Couto.
A former resident of Taunton, MA, she moved to Totonto several years ago, where she was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church.
Mrs. Resendes was a homemaker for most of her adult life and enjoyed knitting in her spare time.
Survivors include her son, Jose M. Resendes and his wife Natalia of Toronto; four sisters, Alice Melo and Conceicao Resendes, both of Toronto, Analia Melo of Montreal, and Elza Melo of Fall River; three grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Her funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton, on Tuesday, Feb. 8th, at 8 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at St. Anthony Church, Taunton at 9 a.m.
Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery, Taunton.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Calling Hours will be held at the funeral home on Monday, Feb. 7th, from 5 to 8 p.m.
