Emily D. Rinker
Fayetteville, GA – Entered into rest Tuesday, February 1, 2011, Emily D. Rinker, 89, wife of the late Henry A. Rinker.
Emily Dukes Rinker was lifted into God’s loving arms on February 1, 2011. She was born in Augusta on February 11, 1921. Mrs. Rinker was the daughter of George and Lucy Ella Dukes. She graduated from Washington High School in Modoc, SC in 1938, where she was a valued member of the basketball team.
Formerly married to Donald Hancock (deceased), they had 2 children, Donna Hancock Henderson (deceased) and Judi Hancock Nelson. In 1952 she married Henry A. Rinker (deceased) and they had 2 children, Emily Rinker Stastny (Randy) and Debra Rinker Gillespie (Tim). She was a proud stepmother to Louise Rinker Mulherin, Claudia Rinker Fritz, Sara Rinker Kelahan, Tony Rinker, Sefton Rinker and Gregory Rinker. Together she and Henry had 19 grandchildren and many great grandchildren. Having a large family was her greatest pleasure. She was devoted to her sons-in-law, whom she loved as though they were her own. Mrs. Rinker spent many years attending St. Mary on the Hill Catholic Church.
She is survived by her sister and best friend, Hazel Dukes Westover.
The family wishes to extend its warmest thanks and appreciation to her loving and devoted caregiver, La Nae Aberle and a special thank you to Amedisys Hospice.
Funeral services will be held Friday, February 4, 2011 at 11:30 A.M. at St. Mary on the Hill Catholic Church with Fr. John Tran celebrant. Interment will follow in Westover Memorial Park.

A vigil service will be held Thursday evening at 6:00 P.M. with Deacon AL Sullivan and the family will receive friends 6:30 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
