Nash Garabedian, Sr., 87, of Salem, NH died Tues., Feb. 1st at Nevins Nursing and Rehabilitation Centre, Methuen, MA. He resided there for the past three and a half years and was lovingly cared for by their kind and compassionate staff.
Nash was born and educated in Salem and is survived by his devoted wife of 65 years, Vera and two children, Linda and her husband Robert Fournier of Salem and Nash Garabedian, Jr. and his wife Diane of Scarborough, Maine. He has four grandchildren: Jennifer and her husband Dennis Rivard, Andrew Fournier, Allegra and Devon Garabedian, four great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Jacob and Haiganoush Garabedian, brothers Paul and Charles Garabedian and sister May Ajemian.
He worked on the family farm before starting his paving business, Nash Garabedian and Son which he worked for 30 years with integrity and great pride and was a past member of the Greater Salem Contractors Association. A man of prayer and great faith, Nash was an active member of the Ararat Armenian Congregational Church where he served served selflessly in many capacities, including the Deaconate. Nash was also a past president of the Greater Salem Council of Churches.
He was an avid gardener and a sports fan. He enjoyed bowling, horseshoes and watching his favorite teams, especially the Detroit Red Wings, the Detroit Lions and the Detroit Tigers. He was a devoted family man and will be sorely missed for his dedication, his warm sense of humor and his kind heart.
Funeral services will be held Mon., Feb. 7th at 11:00 AM the Ararat Armenian Congregational Church in Salem. Burial will be at a later date.
Calling hours will be Sun., Feb. 6th from 1:00 – 4:00PM at Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main St., Salem, NH.
