George F. Goreham died Monday January 31, in Cambridge following a brief illness. He was 83 years old. George was born in Nova Scotia, son of the late Arthur and Grace (Dixon) Goreham. At an early age, following the death of his father, he went to work to help support his family. His mother and family later to moved to the United States, settling in Melrose.
George was the beloved husband of the late Joan (MacCleod) Goreham, together they made their home in Somerville. A truck driver by trade, it is believed he started driving trucks as early as 12 years old. As a Teamster and member of Local 25, he worked for Charles Gilman and Sons for over twenty years, delivering wine and sprits to many local establishments. In earlier years he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He and his wife Joan were also members of the Columbia Yacht Club in Boston where he served as past commodore and could be found hosting cruises aboard his own vessel. After his wife’s passing he found companionship in his beloved dogs, most recently King, Geronimo and Ajax.
Cherished father of Barbara Goreham and her companion Raymond Scott, of Somerville and Nova Scotia, George R. Goreham and his wife Denice of Billerica. Devoted grandfather to Danyle Goreham and Cara Mondello. Loving brother of Enid Wolf of Chelmsford.
A funeral service will be conducted in the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St. MEDFORD, Saturday at 11 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit with the family from 9AM – 11AM. Services will conclude with burial at Puritan Lawn Memorial Park in Peabody.
