Janet M. Hayes, 67

Janet M. (Kneeland) Hayes, 67, of Mansfield passed away surrounded by her devoted family on Wednesday February 2, 2011 at the Maples Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Wrentham. She was the beloved wife of the late Rens F. “Moe” Hayes, Jr. who died on October 20, 2009.
Born in Boston, MA on December 13, 1943, she was a loving daughter of the late John and Ella (Norbut) Kneeland.
Janet grew up in Dedham, until as a teenager, when her family moved to Walpole. She was educated in Dedham and Walpole and was a 1962 graduate of Walpole High School. She and her late husband were married on February 23, 1963.
A dedicated homemaker to her adoring family, Mrs. Hayes had made her home in Mansfield for the past 46 years and was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Mansfield.
Janet was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing at the Norton Country Club in Norton. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and traveling with family and friends.
She is survived by beloved sons Rens F. Hayes, III and his wife Joan of Norton, Michael J. Hayes, Sr. and his wife Karen of Foxboro, Eric S. Hayes of Mansfield, Brandon G. Hayes, Sr. and his wife Kristin of Attleboro and Sean M. Tipton of Mansfield. The dear sister of Donny Davis and her husband Herbert of Douglas, John Kneeland of Walpole, Paul Kneeland and his wife Fran of New Mexico, Larry Kneeland and his wife Susan of Plainville, Kenney Kneeland and his wife Mary of Walpole and Gail Heidke and her husband Phil of Medfield, Mrs. Hayes is also survived by her cherished grandchildren Rens, IV, Lauren, Brianna, Bryan, Michael, Jr., Danielle, Brandon, Jr., Nicholas and Julia, as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. She was the sister in law of the late Beckie Kneeland.
Her funeral, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Wednesday February 9th at 8:00 A.M. from the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home 55 North Main St. Mansfield, followed by a Mass of Christian burial celebrated at 9:00 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church, 330 Pratt St. (Route 106) Mansfield. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Mansfield.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday February 8th from 5-8 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, Janet’s family has requested that donation in her memory be made to the Patients Activity Fund at the Maples Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, 90 Taunton St. Wrentham, MA 02093.
