Obituary

Mrs. Christine Lawson Samuel, age 86, widow of the late George Robert Samuel, of Pilot Mountain, passed away on Tuesday, February 1, 2011 at Central Continuing Care. She was born in Stokes County on May 21, 1924 to the late Canie Weldon Lawson and Ella Frances Woods Lawson. Mrs. Samuel worked as a CNA for Senior Quality Care, was retired from Armtex Textiles and was a member of Pilot Mountain First Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for 53 years. Mrs. Samuel is survived by three sisters and brother-in-laws, Frances Gunter of Stanleyville, N.C., Becky (Melvin) McCreary of Pilot Mountain and Faye (Bill) Southern of Winston-Salem; two brothers, Alvis Lawson of Pilot Mountain and Wilbert Lawson of Mt. Airy; numerous nieces and nephews; and great nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Samuel; her parents; one sister, Mae Phillips; and two brothers, Perry and Davis Lawson, both of Pilot Mountain. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, February 4, 2011 at Cox-Needham Chapel at 2:00 P.M with the Bro. Don Collins and the Rev. Roger Vaden officiating with interment to follow at the Pilot Mountain City Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 3, 2011 from 6-8 PM at Cox-Needham Funeral Home. The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the staffs at Central Continuing Care and Mountain Valley Hospice.
