Jack R. Collier, 79, of Fitzgerald, Georgia died Monday, January 31, 2011, at Dorminy Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M. Thursday, February 3 at the Fitzgerald Church Of God with Rev. Dewain Joiner and Rev. Brenda Westmoreland officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be held 7-9 Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
Mr. Collier was born June 6, 1931 in Birmingham, Alabama to the late Alfred H. and Eunice Hitt Collier. He moved to Fitzgerald in 1976. Mr. Collier was a former printer for Claxton Printing Company in Atlanta, a former employee of Universal Sewing Supply in St. Louis, MO and worked for Walmart for twelve years. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. Mr. Collier was a member of the Fitzgerald Church of God and a former member and Sunday school superintendent of Pine Level United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife: Jane Ellington Collier of Fitzgerald; sons and daughter-in-law: Steve & Denise Collier of Martin and William R. “Toby” Collier of Fitzgerald; granddaughter: Stephanie M. Collier of Martin and a sister: Maida Westmoreland of Toccoa. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Fletcher Boyd Means and a brother, Homer Collier, Jr.
