Obituary


Severn Saunier Carlson of StoneRidge Independent Living, Mystic CT passed away on January 29, 2011. His wife, Patricia Cunningham Carlson to whom he was married on March 1, 1947 in Mountain Lakes, NJ survives him.

Severn was born in Montclair, NJ on May 25, 1923 and was the son of John Arthur and Lois Saunier Carlson. He attended schools in NJ and graduated from Lehigh University.

Serving in World War II as a Navy Pilot, Severn flew torpedo bombers. He was also a Mason in NJ. He served on the board of the United Way and was also a past president of the board of the Mumford Cove Association in Noank, CT. Severn was also an active member and volunteer at the Mystic Seaport for many years.

Also surviving Severn is his daughter, Pamela C. Schleifman (Bruce) of Selden, NY and son, Bruce S. Carlson (Patricia) of Cortlandt Manor, NY. He is also survived by four granddaughters, Gail (Michael) of Hauppauge, NY and Allison (Richard) of Central Islip, NY and Lauren and Katherine of Cortlandt Manor, NY as well as two great-granddaughters, Ashley and Taylor both of Hauppauge, NY. Severn is also survived by his sister, Carolyn C. Mills of Arizona.

A memorial service will be held at StoneRidge on Saturday, February 12th at 2pm.
