SMALL - Edward M. Small, 89, passed away Tuesday, January 25, 2011 at his home in Yulee, FL. He was born in Waterville, Maine on November, 14, 1921 and moved to Yulee in 1986.
He was a veteran of World War II serving with the U. S. Navy as a submariner from 1941 to 1947. He served aboard the USS Spikefish, the USS Steelhead and the USS Billfish.
Before retiring in 1985, Mr. Small was employed by Dresser Industries as a field engineer. He was also a member of the Masonic Grand Lodge, F. and A. M. of Waterville, Maine and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of Waterville, Maine.
He was predeceased by his wife, Faylene G. Small, who passed away in 1975 and by this brother, William M. Small in 1993.
He is survived by two daughters, Nancy A. Lordi (Joseph) and Jane E. Garber (Daniel); his six grandchildren, Karen M. Lordi, Kelly A. Cantwell, Kimberly F. Oatman, Joseph E. Lordi, Elizabeth A Truax, Mark R. Lordi; eight great-grandchildren, Tracie E. Marshall, Chelsea M. Cantwell, Daniel E. Abell, Brandy M. Barry, Bailey F. Barry, Darian E. Truax, Devon N. Truax and Macey Jane Peck, two great-great grandchildren, Donte’ J. Reed and Aniyah A. Rushing and a very dear friend, Jodi (Judy) Davis.
Mr. Small will be laid to rest in the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Augusta, Maine. Services will be private.
He will be sadly missed by his family and many friends.
