Obituary

WASHINGTON…Melvin Christian Heiser, 75, formerly of Deer Creek, passed away at 2:30 p.m., Friday, January 28, 2011 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

Melvin was born on April 21, 1935 in Goodfield to Benjamin and Marie Janssen Heiser. He married Peggy Williams on August 1, 1959 in Deer Creek. Peggy survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Katherine Marie (Chris) Nettles and Gail (Greg) Nettles, both of Washington; one son, Melvin Daryl (Sarah Bonk) Heiser of Pekin; one sister, Carol (Les) Corry of Champaign; eight Grandsons; one granddaughter and eight great grandchildren.

Melvin was retired from Miller Welding in Washington where he had worked from 1986 to 1995. He also had been a plasterer in the area for more than 20 years.

He was a beloved husband, father and grandfather and was extremely close to all his brother and sister-in-laws. Melvin was known as “Spider” to many of his friends.

Melvin was a member of the Broadway Church of Christ in Pekin.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Mason-White Funeral Home in Washington with Evangelist Don Potts officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery in Deer Creek. Visitation will be on Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. and one hour prior to services on Tuesday.

Memorials may be made to the Eureka Apostolic Christian Home.
