Whitman - Winifred M. (Barry) Marsolais passed gently from this earth January 27, 2011 while under the care of the dedicated staff at South Shore Hospital in Weymouth. Her last words were an expression of love for her four sons and acceptance of her passing.
She was born and raised in Dorchester, the daughter of the late David and Mary (McGrath) Barry. In 1962, she and her husband, the late Eugene P. Marsolais, Sr., moved to the Holy Ghost Parish in Whitman where they raised their family and celebrated close to 50 years of marriage.
She is survived by her four sons and their wives: Eugene P. Marsolais, Jr. and Linda of Norton; Barry J. Marsolais and Laura of Lynnfield; Brian G. Marsolais and Danita of Cumberland, Rhode Island, and Mark Marsolais and Carolyn of Cold Spring, Kentucky. Additionally, she is survived by her 10 grandchildren, her eight great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her beloved sister, Patricia Coughlin; her brothers, Edward Barry and David “Bob” Barry; her niece, Patrician Ann (Coughlin) Hickey; and her nephews, Kevin Coughlin, Greg Coughlin, and Sean Barry.
Her funeral mass will occur at 10 a.m. on February 3, 2011 at the Holy Ghost Church in Whitman. Family and friends are welcomed and encouraged to visit with her sons prior to the mass from 8:30 – 9:30 a.m. at the Blanchard Funeral Chapel Plymouth Street (Rt. 58 at the rotary) Whitman. Internment will take place at a later date at St. James Cemetery in Whitman.
