Worcester - Chester M. Chambers, Jr., 73, of Worcester went home to be with his Savior Thursday, January 27, 2011, following complications from by-pass surgery.
He is survived by his wife and best friend of 48 years, Joyce E. (Mathieu). Two sons, Paul A. Chambers and his wife A. Karin of Worcester and Michael J. Chambers and his wife Susan of Lebanon Maine. Two sisters. Phyllis A. LeDuc of Worcester and M. Roberta wife of Samuel Treen of Tatamagouche, Nova Scotia. His brother-in-law, Paul Mathieu of Worcester. His grandchildren Joshua, Jonathan, Rachael, Caleb, Nathan, Matthew and Silas. He also leaves many nieces and nephews, including his favorite niece Cindy Wilder of Worcester. He is predeceased by his brother Allen Chambers of Millbury.
Chet was born in Worcester, the youngest child of Chester M. Chambers, Sr. and Olive A. (Treen). He was a graduate of Worcester Boys Trade High School and worked for 39 years as a tool designer for Jamesbury Corporation, retiring in 1996.
He was a member of Temple Baptist Church, The Early V-8 Club and the Greendale Retired Men’s Club. His greatest joys in life were spending time with his wife and grandchildren, working on projects around his home and his children’s homes, and working on various projects with his friend from childhood, Dick Toppin.
Chet was an amazing man who was loved by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. He touched the lives of many people and will be greatly missed.
A memorial service to celebrate Chester’s life will be held on Sunday, February 6, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Temple Baptist Church. A private burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery, North Brookfield. There will be no calling hours. The family requests flowers be omitted and contributions made in his memory to Temple Baptist Church, 350 Stafford St., Cherry Valley, MA 01611.
