SCHMUCKIE, ANNA LINDAUER "MAMMAW," was born on March 22, 1929 and entered Heaven January 23, 2011.
She was the first female deputy sheriff in uniform in Jefferson County Circuit Court where she worked with U.S. Marshall Big Six Henderson transporting female prisoners, was a member of the FOP Lodge #25 and St. Louis Bertrand Catholic Church.
She married the love of her life, Theodore Schmuckie, her "Babe" on March 27, 1975. They retired and traveled frequently, while being extremely dedicated to their family and their church. Mammaw and Pappaw were reunited again when she moved to Summerfield nursing home over two years ago. We are very grateful to the staff for showing her so much love as was evident during the final chapter of her life, as well as the kindness and concern for her family during this very difficult time.
She was preceded in death by her parents; eight siblings; daughters, Connie Lindauer and Cheri Gossman; and stepson, Theodore Schmuckie Jr.
She is survived by her greatest love of over 35 years, her husband Theodore Schmuckie Sr.; son, Rodney Lindauer (Marsha); daughter Sandy Foster; son-in-law, George Gossman; as well as stepdaughters, Terry Malcolm (John) and Caroline Gardner (David); stepdaughter-in-law, June Schmuckie; and her loving sister, Jeanne Kleinhelter. She was loved and cherished by her grandchildren, Jason, Jamie (Angie), Brandie, Jessica (Drew) and Ashlee; and her adoring great-grandchildren, Koty, Katie, Hannah, Dylan, Haylie, Caleb, Kendall, Delaney, Parker and Makenna. She is also survived by her stepgrandchildren, Shanna, Sandy, David Jr., Rachel, Heather, Erin and Megan; and her stepgreat-grandchildren, Parker, Johnny, John, Helen, Jack, Kay'elah, Joseph, Delilah, Carolyn and Kendall. Additionally, she is survived by an abundance of other family members and friends who enriched her life and whom she loved and cherished.
Her funeral Mass will be celebrated 9:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Louis Bertrand Catholic Church, 1104 South 6th Street, with burial in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 4-8 p.m. and Friday from 1-8 p.m. at Owen Funeral Home at 5317 Dixie Highway.
