Jean E. Sciuto, 85, of Derry, died Monday January 24, 2011 at Pleasant Valley Nursing Care of Derry after a period of declining health.
Mrs. Sciuto was born August 27, 1925 in Utica, NY, the daughter of Robert and Mae (Cummings) Morrison. She was raised and educated in Malden, MA and was a graduate of Malden High School. She lived most of her life in Malden, and then in Methuen, MA, prior to moving to Derry in 1985. She was an accounting manager, and worked for Kealey Farms of Salem for many years, and eventually retired from Micro Communications of Manchester, after her retirement, Mrs. Sciuto also worked part time for Southern NH Services.
Jean enjoyed sewing and painting, and was a long-time volunteer with the Derry Parks and Recreation Department as an Arts & Crafts instructor for elderly programs. She also was a volunteer with Parkland Medical Center.
Members of the family include her husband of 56 years, Alfred Sciuto, Sr. of Derry, two sons, Alfred Sciuto, Jr. of Derry and James Sciuto of Rye, her daughter Theresa Sciuto of Dunbarton, NH, and a brother, Robert Morrison of Malden, MA.
An hour of visitation was held Monday, January 31st from 10 to 11 AM at the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch Street in Derry. A funeral service followed at 11 AM in the funeral home. The burial concluded at the NH State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen.
