WORCESTER-Agnes L. (Ford) Hannon, 90, of Worcester, died Tuesday, January 25th in the Notre Dame Long Term Care Center. Her husband of 53 years, L. Paul Hannon, died in 2000. She leaves her son, John P. Hannon and his wife Cheryl of Leicester; her daughter, Marylou Hannon-Ansel and her husband Richard of Brockton; a sister, Helen Ford of Worcester; five grandchildren; six great grandchildren; many nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her son, Francis Hannon in 1957, two brothers, Francis and John Ford and two sisters, Alice Kenary and Mary Beahn.
Mrs. Hannon was born in Worcester, the daughter of John and Jennie (Laverty) Ford and had lived in Upton for many years. She was a graduate of South High School and Worcester State College and obtained her Master’s Degree in Education from Columbia University. She was a teacher for more than 40 years in the Worcester Public School system before retiring in 1982. Mrs. Hannon was a member of the Massachusetts Teacher’s Association and the National Education Association. She was a longtime supporter of the Xaverian Brothers. Mrs. Hannon enjoyed hosting family and friends at her home in the White Mountains and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandson Wyatt. She was an avid quilter and enjoyed knitting and crocheting.
The funeral is Friday, January 28th from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with a Mass at 10:30 AM in Notre Dame du Lac Chapel, 555 Plantation Street. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery. A visiting hour will be held from 8:45 until 9:45 A.M. Friday in the funeral home.
