Nancy A. Maxner, 85

Dateline: Mansfield, MA

Nancy A. (Feeley) Maxner, 85, of Mansfield formerly of Foxboro passed away peacefully, in the presence of her adoring family, on Wednesday January 26, 2011 at the Epoch Senior Healthcare in Norton. She was the beloved wife of the late Robert J. Maxner, to whom she was wed for over 49 years at the time of his death on December 9, 1994.
Born in Boston, MA on October 12, 1925, she was a daughter of the late Raymond J. and Evelyn M. (Searle) Feeley.
Nancy grew up and was educated in Medford. She was a graduate of Medford High School. A resident of Mansfield for over 30 years, she had previously resided in Foxboro for 20 years.
Mrs. Maxner worked in the Human Resource Department at Norwood Hospital for 5 years before retiring, She had formerly been employed as an Information Desk Supervisor at the Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro for 21 years. While working at Sturdy Memorial Hospital, she along with Frank Titus, was in charge of the hospitals birth announcements listened to by area families on radio station W.A.R.A.
A communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Mansfield, Nancy loved spending time with her cherished family ands friends, which included trips to the beautiful Cape Cod seashore and in particular, boating. She and her late husband were also avid travelers.
She is survived by her devoted daughters Ann Marie Lyons and Roberta J. “Bobbie” Rodman both of Norton, Mary Lou MacDonald of Hyannis and the late Teresa Maxner who passed away in 1970. She was the dear sister of Elizabeth Goudreau of Woburn, Raymond Feeley of Nashua, NH, Patrick Feeley of Winthrop and the late Mary Leahy and Paul Feeley. Mrs. Maxner is also survived by her loving 9 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Her Funeral Mass, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be celebrated on Monday January 31st at 10:30 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church, 330 Pratt St. (Route 106), Mansfield. Burial will follow in Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton.
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday January 30th from 2-5 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home 55 North Main St. Mansfield.
In lieu of flowers, Nancy’s family has requested that donations in her memory be made to the Sturdy Memorial Hospital Foundation P.O. Box 2963 Attleboro, MA 02703.
