John M. “Jack” Sheehy, 80, of Medway, died Tuesday, January 25, 2011 at the Maples Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Wrentham. He was the husband of Constance M. (Dalton) Sheehy who died on September 12, 2010.
Born in Hopewell, VA on August 12, 1930, he was the son of the late E. Morgan and Catherine (Driscoll) Sheehy.
Mr. Sheehy was a resident of Medway since 1966. He graduated from John Marshall Prep School in Richmond, VA and Boston University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics.
Mr. Sheehy was a Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War. He attained the rank of sergeant and received the Korean Service Ribbon with 3 Stars, the United Nations Ribbon, the National Defense Service Medal and a Korean Presidential Unit Citation.
Mr. Sheehy started the Commercial Insurance Exchange in RI in 1975 and worked there until retiring in 2004. He had previously worked at American Mutual Insurance Co. and also for the F.B.I. for 2 years during the late 50’s.
Mr. Sheehy was an active member of the Medway Democratic Town Committee and a member of the DAV. He enjoyed fishing and his boat, loved his faithful companion Rebel, and cherished time spent with his family.
He is survived by his daughters, Kathy Bruno and her husband John of Cumberland, RI and Caroline Guyette and her husband Scott of Medway and two granddaughters, Kayla and Denise.
He was the brother of the late Edward D. Sheehy.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral on Tuesday, February 1 from the Ginley-Crowley Funeral Home, 3 Barber St. in Medway at 9:15 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass at St. Joseph’s Church, 151 Village St. in Medway at 10 a.m. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Medway.
Calling hours will be held on Monday from 5 - 8 p.m.
