Anthony “Tony” J. Previti, a long-time Medford resident, died Friday at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital. He was 96.
Born and raised in Boston, he was the son of the late John and the late Josephine (Zona) Previti. A carpenter by trade, Anthony worked for many years at the Charlestown Navy Yard as a ship fitter. During World War II he was prevented from entering military service because of his expertise in ship maintenance and repair. After the closing of the navy yard, Tony worked at Boston’s Museum of Science, where he put his talents to work helping to design, build and maintain exhibits. Tony loved ballroom dancing and went out dancing frequently until recently. He volunteered daily at the Courtyard Nursing Center were he brought happiness to the many patients there. He was a devoted family man who loved the company of his many friends and family members.
The beloved husband of the late Concetta “Connie” (Giliberto), he was a devoted father to John Previti and his wife Sharon of Malden, Carmela Previti of North Andover and Las Vegas, Anthony "Tony" Previti and his wife Linda of South Burlington, VT, Maria Spinale and her husband Stephen of Malden and the late Josephine Jordan. He was a dear father-in-law to Arthur Jordan. He was a loving grandfather to 15 grandchildren and the late Anthony Previti and leaves 27 great-grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Pasquale “Pat” and Mario “Marty” Previti and Maria “Mary” Gallinaro. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Friday, January 28th, at 9 AM followed by a funeral mass offered in St. Francis Of Assisi Church, Medford at 10 AM. Interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford. Relatives and friends may visit at the funeral home Thursday from 4 - 8.
