Methuen: Mr. Lionel D. Hamel, 95, died Saturday at the Nevins Nursing Rehabilitation Centere. Born in Agte, P.Q., Canada , Mr. Hamel had been an area resident all of his life. Served in the United States Navy, and he was a Veteran of World War II. He had been employed at Hamel’s Market until its closing. Mr. Hamel was a member of our Lady of Good Counsel Parish and the Lawrence Lodge of Elks B.P.O.E. # 65. The widower of Helen (Graney) Hamel, he is survived by:
2 sons: Daniel & his wife Jean Hamel of Summerfield, FL
Michael & his wife Denise Hamel of Breckenridge, CO
2 sisters: Pauline & her husband Pat Bissonnette of Salisbury, MA
Irene Gamache of Andover
1 brother: John Hamel of Methuen
There are 4 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
The Hamel family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of the Nevins Home for the excellent care given to their father.
A Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10:00 am, at St. Theresa Church. Burial will follow in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm, at the Racicot Funeral Home, 256 Broadway, Lawrence. www.Racicotfuneralhome.com
