Obituary

Timothy R. Brophy age 58 died Thursday January 20, 2011 in Brockton. Born in Brockton he was the son of the late Joseph and Helen A. (O’Connell) Brophy. A 1970 graduate of Brockton High School Tim served in the US Air Force during the Vietnam War. He was an air policeman with the Strategic Air Command in Minot, ND. He served in the same capacity in the Demilitarized Zone in South Korea and was discharged with the rank of Sergeant.
Tim had worked for several years at Charles E. Crofoot in South Easton and had been a bartender in several local establishments. He was a member of the Polish White Eagles Club and also the Conte Club where he had once worked.
He loved to read and was an avid collector of comic books. He also enjoyed watching movies and had an extensive and eclectic collection. Tim also loved to cook. He was a gregarious and outgoing man who was a great story teller and had a sharp wit. It was said that he could make even a statue smile. Tim was most proud of his family and treasured his time spent with them.
He was the brother of Denis “Mike” Brophy and his wife Judy of So. Easton; Kevin F. Brophy and his wife Mildred of W. Bridgewater; John W. Brophy and his wife Jackie of Randolph; Anne Devito and her husband Vincent of Bridgewater; Richard Brophy and his wife Jean of E. Bridgewater and the late Joseph Brophy. He also leaves his special friend Daisy Orbon and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation in the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont St. (Rte 123) Brockton Saturday January 29, 2011 from 9:30 to 10:30 am. Funeral Mass in St. Edith Stein/St. Edward Church at 11 am. Burial will be at a later date in Calvary Cemetery. Donations in Tim’s name may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
