Francis J Dumas, 80 years old, of Uxbridge (formerly of Natick and S.Yarmouth), passed away peacefully January 21, 2011 after a short illness.
Francis was born in Natick on March 1, 1930, the son of the late Frank Dumas and Elizabeth (Farley) Dumas. Francis is survived by his devoted wife of 59 years, Barbara F (Ainsworth) Dumas, his 5 loving children, Michael F. Dumas and his wife, Tami of Mendon, Peter L. Dumas and his wife Kim of Franklin, Paul Dumas and his wife Bernadette of Natick, Nancy E Sherman and her husband David of Douglas and Jean-Marie Dumas of Watertown. He was the cherished grandfather of Kevin Dumas and his wife Becky of Woonsocket, RI, Joseph & Marie Dumas of Natick, Patrick & Timothy Dumas of Mendon, Megan, Michelle & Kristen Dumas of Franklin and Maximilian Dumas of Watertown. He was also the great-grandfather of Arianna Dumas of Woonsocket. Francis is also survived by his sister, Phyllis O’Connor of Framingham, sisters-in-law Eleanor O’Hare of Hudson, Sharon Abraham of IL, Brenda Boyd of NY, predeceased by sisters Marion Todesco & Marjorie Balboni and many nieces & nephews.
Francis was a 1949 graduate of Natick High School. He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army after serving from 1951-1953 during the Korean War. Francis was employed as a Natick Firefighter from 1953-1986, when he retired. Upon retiring, he and his wife Barbara enjoyed traveling throughout the USA, moved to S. Yarmouth, where they lived for many years and loved spending time by the ocean. Francis especially loved reminiscing and telling stories of his fond memories growing up and his time as a firefighter in Natick. His friends and family will remember his sense of humor and admirable cooking skills.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend calling hours on Monday, January 24 from 3:00-7:00pm at John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park Street (at Natick Common), Natick, a Mass of Christian Burial at St Patrick’s Church, 44 E.Central St, Natick on Tuesday, January 25 at 10:00am. Interment will be in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, MA on Friday, January 28 at 12:45pm.
