Evelyn Carton, 82, of Cumberland, died Friday, December 17, 2010 at Landmark Medical Center. She was the wife of the late Ben Haywood Kay and the late Paul E. Carton.
Born in Pawtucket, she was a daughter of the late Norman and Mary (Axon) Booth. She was a lifelong resident of Cumberland.
Mrs. Carton was a graduate of Cumberland High School, Class of 1945.
She was employed by Cumberland Farms, Forte Bros. Inc. and later at Elizabeth Webbing in Central Falls prior to her retirement.
She is survived by two daughters, Cheryl A. Beckmann of Peacedale, and Stephanie Girard of Exeter, NH. Four grandchildren, Jacob Gadoury, Allyson Beckmann, and Michael and Carolyn Girard. She was the sister of the late Gladys Pickles. She is also survived by her cousin Walter Brown of Pawtucket, and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service in celebration of Evelyn’s life will be held Saturday, January 29, 2011 at 1:00 pm in St. John’s Episcopal Church, 1505 Mendon Rd. Cumberland. Burial will be private.
