Frank Benevides Sr., age 90 of Swansea passed away January 21, 2010. He was husband of the late Naomi (Raymond) Benevides and the son of the late Manuel & Maria (Arruda) Benevides. Prior to retiring, he was the owner of Frank’s Variety on John St., Fall River, he also worked at Charlton Memorial Hospital as a security guard for many years and later he worked at Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home. He was a WW II Army Air Corp Veteran stationed at Guam where he was a driver for the officers. He also was in charge of ordering supplies for the unit. Upon returning home, he married his longtime sweetheart Naomi Raymond. Frank was a Swansea Volunteer Fireman, a parishioner of St. John of God Church, a member of the American Legion, a Charter Member of the Swansea Lions Club and VFW and the P.A.C.L.
Frank was the father of Frank Benevides Jr. of Somerset and Jeanie Bullington, brother of Dorothy Sylvia both of Swansea and the late Manuel Benevides. He was the former father-in-law of Lorianne “LA” Fagioli to whom he was very close. He was the devoted grandfather of Cameren Benevides, Aymee Bullington and the late Amber Naomi Bullington and uncle to several nephews.
His funeral will take place from the MANUEL ROGERS & SONS FUNERAL HOME Tuesday at 8 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. John of God Church at 9 A.M. Interment in St. Patrick Cemetery. Calling hours Monday 4-8 P.M.
