Patrick L. Conlan, 87, of New Bedford died January 21, 2011 at Sacred Heart Home.
He was the husband of the late Lucy (Palmieri) Conlan.
Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Thomas M. and Catherine (Lyons) Conlan, he lived in New Bedford all of his life.
Mr. Conlan was a communicant of Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish.
He was the proprietor of Hunt's Ice and Oil for 25 years before becoming a maintenance supervisor for the New Bedford Housing Authority.
Mr. Conlan was a member of the Whaling City Golf Course. He played baseball in the Twilight League and C.Y.O. and later coached basketball and baseball for Holy Name and C.Y.O.
Survivors include 2 sisters-in-law, Mary Conlan and Lillian Ponte Mahoney, both of New Bedford; a brother-in-law, Simon Palmieri of New Bedford; his life-long friend, Leonard Curran of Fairhaven; many nieces, nephews and godchildren.
He was the brother of the late Leonard Conlan, Thomas Conlan, John Conlan, Helen Oliver and Catherine Whittaker and the brother-in-law of the late Ray Whittaker and William Oliver.
Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home For Funerals, 495 Park St. New Bedford Tuesday, January 25th at 8 AM. Funeral Mass at Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church at 9 AM. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery. Visiting hours Monday, January 24th from 4-7 PM. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Alzheimer's Unit or the Activities Fund at Sacred Heart Home, 359 Summer St., New Bedford, MA 02740.
