Richard Schalch, Sr., 64, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Friday, January 2, 2004, at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Sunday, January 4, 2004 at Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald, with Dr. Lloyd Stembridge and Rev. Charlie Simpson officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Fitzgerald. Visitation will be from 7:00 until 9:00 P.M. Saturday evening at the Funeral Home.
Mr. Schalch was born September 2, 1939 in Memphis, TN, to Carolyn Jarrett Schalch Bomar and the late Louis George Schalch, Sr. He moved to Fitzgerald in 1976 to become assistant manager for Belk’s Department Store. He was the former owner/operator of Schalch’s Dress Shop, former manager of Halperins, Freidlanders, Rite Aid, a former employee of Farmers Furniture and a former sales representative for Liberty National Life Insurance Company. Mr. Schalch was a member of Arbor Baptist Church.
Mr. Schalch is survived by his Wife: Dean Davis Schalch, Fitzgerald; three sons: Lee Schalch, Portland, OR, Raymond Schalch, Ocilla and Robert Schalch, Memphis, TN; eight grandchildren; mother: Carolyn Bomar, Olive Branch, MS; three brothers: Louis Schalch, Olive Branch, MS, Stanley Schalch, Rock Springs, GA and Ron Bomar, Hernando, MS; one sister: Alice Schalch, Olive Branch, MS.
