Nils A. Hansen, Jr.,92, formerly of Waterman Avenue, Smithfield, died Thursday, January 20, 2011 at Hebert’s Nursing Home. He was the husband of the late Germaine M. (Brisson) Hansen.
Born in Smithfield, he was one of eight children of Nils and Elizabeth (Longfellow) Hansen. He had been a lifelong resident of Smithfield.
He had worked at RISD as a locksmith and Maintenance Supervisor for over 20 years before retiring. He had also worked at many local construction sites over the years. He was a WWII Navy Veteran.
He is survived by his children: August R. Hansen and his wife, Doris of Denver, CO, Faith A. Maddocks and her husband, Gary of Smithfield and Hans E. Hansen and his wife, Mary-Jane of Foster, his eight grandchildren, two great grandchildren and a sister Elizabeth Burhoe of Johnston.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday at 11:30am in the ANDERSON-WINFIELD Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Park Cemetery, Johnston. Visitation Monday 4-7pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Hebert’s Nursing Home, Patient Activities Fund, 180 Log Road, Smithfield, RI 02917.
