Phyllis D. (Collette) Beatty, 92, of Brockton, died January 19, 2011 at Baypointe Nursing and Rehabilitation. She was the wife of the late Edward T. Beatty. Born and raised in Brockton she was the daughter of the late Gelose and Mary A. (McIntyre) Collette. She was a 1936 graduate of Brockton High School and also graduated from the Brockton Hairdressing Academy. Phyllis had been a licensed hairdresser for over 25 years in Brockton. While living in Brockton she was an active and founding member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church. While a resident of Wareham, she as an active member of St. Theresa’s Church. For over 20 years she had been a resident of Woodland Meadows Senior Complex in Norton, was active in St. Mary’s Parish and Norton’s Council on Aging assisting with Meals on Wheels and other senior programs. Phyllis enjoyed time with her family and grandchildren, and was an avid supporter of ALS, which her husband died from in 1978.
Phyllis is survived by her daughter Collette Carlson of Brockton, two sons Edward Beatty, Jr. and his wife Cheryle of Norton and John Beatty and his wife Rose of Bridgewater; nine grandchildren Mary Ann Whalen, Erin Spano, Danielle Carlson, Robyn Sieben, Eric Beatty, Marc Beatty, Nicole Falcon, Jennifer Florczyk and Sara Beatty and 17 great grandchildren.
A Funeral Service will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton Monday at 11am. Visitation prior to the service 10-11am. Burial in Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations in her name may be made to the ALS Family Charitable Fund, Inc., PO Box 229, Bourne, MA 02532.
