Obituary

WAYLAND: Wallace R. “Wally” Hogue, 81, died peacefully on Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2011 following a brief illness.
Wally was born in Grafton, New Hampshire on July 2, 1929 the son of the late Nelson J. Hogue and Gertrude (Jones) Hogue.
Wally is survived by his devoted son Kenneth A. Hogue and daughter-in-law Janis M. Hogue of North Attleboro. He was the cherished grandfather of Alison E. Hogue of North Attleboro. Wally is also survived by a sister Eleanor Gracie of Dover, New Hampshire. Wally was the husband for 48 wonderful years of the late G. Mildred “Millie” (McQuarrie) Hogue who died in June of 2005 and father of the late Michael N. Hogue who died in May of 1981.
He has been a resident of Wayland for the past 53 years and previously resided in Grafton, N.H. He received his B.S. in Engineering from Northeastern University. He was associated with Sylvania/GTE as a Program Manager for 35 years retiring in 1987. Wally was a member of the GTE Government Systems Corporation Quarter Century Club and a 60 year member of the American Legion Post 97 of Grafton, NH. He was a decorated United States Navy combat veteran of the Korean War. He loved to spend time gardening and doing projects at his residence.
Wally was a longtime communicant of St. Zepherins Church. Upon retiring, he and his wife Millie enjoyed traveling throughout the United States, Canada, Alaska and Europe and spending vacations in York, Maine with his family. He was a beloved and devoted husband, father and grandfather to his family and will be greatly missed by all the lives that he touched.
Visitations will be held on Sunday, Jan. 23, 2011 from 2:00 to 5:00 pm at the John C. Bryant Funeral Home, 56 Pemberton Rd (Off Route 30), Wayland.
Family and friends are invited to his Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, January 24, 2011 at 10:00 am at St. Zepherin Church, 99 Main St (Rte 27), Wayland.
Interment will follow in the Hogue family lot in Lakeview Cemetery in Wayland.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Wally’s memory may be sent to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701.
