Shirley E. (Hansen) Miller, 88, of Canterbury Woods in Attleboro formerly of Southbury, CT passed away on Thursday January 20, 2011 at the Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro, MA. She was the beloved wife of the late Frederick C. Miller who died on October 30, 1955.
Born in Waterbury, CT on December 26, 1922, she was a daughter of the late Frederick and Julia (Donovan) Hansen.
Shirley grew up and was educated in Waterbury, CT. She was a retired Inspector having worked for 15 years at Ingersoll-Rand in Torrington prior to retiring in 1987.
She had made her home Attleboro for the past 4 years and was a former longtime resident of Southbury, CT. Mrs. Miller had also resided for 15 years in California.
Shirley loved spending time in the presence of her family. She also enjoyed traveling, puzzles and was an avid reader.
She is survived by her daughters Judith A. Griffin of Norton, MA, Ruth K. Johnsen of San Diego, CA, Maureen F. Gilman of Los Angeles, CA, Marguerite M. Lingenfelter of Monterey, CA, Debra M. Fabiaschi of Boston, MA and the late Irene J. Frantzis. The dear sister of the late Margaret Clark, Carl, Edward, Frederick, Arthur and Norman Hansen, Mrs. Miller is also survived by her grandchildren Katie Alitz of Charlestown, MA, Brendan Griffin of Middlebury, CT, Kerri Jewkes of Mansfield, MA, Courtney Krupinsky of Westwood, MA, Emily Anderson of Woodbury, CT, Jennifer DeMatteis of Litchfield, CT, Julie O’Connor of Woodbury, CT, Rio Caraeff of New York City, NY, Ezra Caraeff of Portland, OR, Charles, Abby and Donald Lingenfelter all of Monterey, CA , Sarah Byrnes of Rye, NH and Abagail Wittnebert of Tampa, FL, as well as 18 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Tuesday January 25th at 11:00 A.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home 55 North Main St. Mansfield, MA. Burial will follow in the North Purchase Cemetery, Attleboro, MA
