Obituary

Richard W. Muir age 74 of Salem, NH, died Thursday of Leukemia at his home surrounded by his loving wife and children.

He was born in Quincy, MA, to the Anne (Budrick) Muir & the late William Muir. He grew up and was educated in Quincy, where he graduated form Quincy High School. He later attended the Bethlehem Steel Co. Apprentice School.

Mr. Muir was a supervisor of building services for Gillette Co. in Andover, MA, where he worked for 30 years, before retiring in 1995. After his retirement, Dick worked part time at Thrifty Car Rental at Manchester-Boston Regional Airport in Manchester, NH.

Dick was active in the Coast Guard Auxiliary. He was Commander of Flotilla 31, which covers the Merrimack Valley. He also was a Vessel Examiner, Aids to Navigation Verifier, Boat Crewman, Instructor, Communications Specialist, and a Marine Safety Specialist. Water and boating was his love, but most of all Dick loved being with his family.

He is survived by his beloved wife & best friend of 49 years:

Derek & his wife Nikki Muir of Chester, NH

Daughter: Lisa & her husband Bill Broderick of Bradford, MA

Mother: Anne Muir of Quincy, MA

Brother James Muir of Kingston, MA
Sister: Margaret Caldwell of Quincy, MA

Grandchildren: Ryan, Christopher, Kevin, Sarah, Briana, Meaghan, Caitlin, Brandon, & Nathan.

Several Nieces & Nephews

Calling hours will be Sunday, Jan. 23 from 11 AM to 2 PM, followed by a funeral service at 2 PM at the Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main St., Salem, NH.
Cremation will follow.
