Obituary

James F. Doherty, 84, of Medway died January 19 in the University of Massachusetts Medical Center in Worcester following a long illness. He was the husband of Vivian A. (DiGirolamo) Doherty for the past 61 years.
Born in Boston, March 13, 1926, the son of the late James and Emma (Miller) Doherty, Mr. Doherty had lived in Quincy for several years prior to moving to Medway 51 years ago.
Mr. Doherty had worked for the Raytheon Corporation for 36 years before retiring as a production supervisor.
Mr. Doherty served in the Navy during both World War II and the Korean War. He attained the rank of radioman second class.
He was a member of the Medway V.F.W.
In addition to his wife, he survived by his children, Mark Doherty of Acton and his daughter Diane Seckler and her husband Joseph of Acton.
He was the brother of the late Mary. He is also survived by his grandson James Seckler.
His funeral will be held on Monday, January 24 from the Ginley-Crowley Funeral Home, 3 Barber St. in Medway at 9:15 followed by a funeral Mass in St. Joseph Church at 10:00 a.m.
Burial will be in Blue Hills Cemetery in Braintree.
Calling hours will be on Sunday from 4-6 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in his memory to the Alzheimer’s Association of Massachusetts, 311 Arsenal St., Watertown, MA 02472.
