In Taunton, January 17, 2011 Jose Octavio Sousa, age 57 passed away at home following a courageous battle with cancer. Jose was born in Flores, Azores to his parents Americo & Ines (Lourenco) DeSousa of Taunton. Jose served in the Portuguese Army. He moved to Taunton from the Azores in 1976. Jose was employed as a truck driver for Liberty Kitchen & Bakery in Brockton. He was an avid Red Sox fan, enjoyed fishing and loved spending time with his family and friends. Jose leaves his children; Octavio Sousa and his wife Tracy of East Taunton, Ana Faria and her husband Albert of Taunton. Jose is also survived by his grandchildren Colby and Kirsten. His siblings; Maria DeBarros & her husband Vasco of Taunton, Jose Olavo DeSousa & his wife Jean of Taunton, Jose Antonio DeSousa & his wife Diane of Berkley and Jose Albert DeSousa & his wife Christine of Fall River. He was also survived by his nieces and nephews; Nelson DeBarros, Jake DeSousa, Isabelle DeBarros, Stacey DeSousa, Angela DeBarros and Kristyn DeSousa. Funeral services will be private at the request of the deceased.
