Salem: Laurette L. Cote, age 87 of Salem, died Wednesday morning, January 19, 2011 at the NSMC / Salem Hospital.
Born in L’Isle Verte, PQ, Canada, and raised in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Omer and Emelia (Theriault) Cote. Laurette was employed as a secretary for General Electric for 46 years, the last 30 of which were in legal operations for the company.
Active in many organizations over the years, she was a former president of the AARP Salem Chapter. She was a member of the former St. Joseph Parish and was currently a member of St. James Parish.
She is survived by two sisters, Irene Plourde and her husband Roger and Cecile Roy and her husband Roger all of Salem, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three sisters, Rolande Arsenault, Jeannette Corbin and Anita Bernard and a brother, Leonard Cote.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette St. [Rt. 114 / 1-A] Salem on Saturday, January 22, 2011 at 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. for a period of visitation, to be followed by her funeral mass in St. Thomas the Apostle Church on the Salem / Peabody line at 11 a.m. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem.
