Obituary

James T. “Buddy” Collins, 91, passed away on January 18th, 2011 at the Aberjona Nursing Center in Winchester. He was born on July 1st, 1919 to his parents William S. and Elizabeth (James) Collins. James has been a life-long resident of Medford. He is a graduate of Malden Catholic High School, the inaugural Class of 1937. He served his country honorably during World War II as a member of the United States Army Air Force. For many years James worked as a candy salesman servicing the New England area. He was an avid golfer and 45 year member of the Woburn Country Club, serving a term as president of the 19th Hole Club. James also had a love of carving model ships and building model airplanes. He is survived by his sister, Mary E. Collins of Medford; by his niece, Mary E. Collins and her husband Stephen G. Russell of Medford; by his nephew, W. Stephen Collins and his wife Kimberly of Medford; by his grand nephew William S. Russell and by his grand niece Melissa Collins. Along with his parents, James was predeceased by his brother William S. Collins Jr. and by his sister-in-law Marie P. Collins. Relatives & friends are invited to attend his funeral from the Breslin Funeral Home, 610 Pleasant St., Malden on Saturday January 22nd at 8 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Medford at 9 AM. Services will conclude with interment in Oak Grove Cemetery in Medford. Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Friday January 21st from 4-8 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to St. Francis of Assisi Parish, 441 Fellsway West, Medford, MA 02155.
