SPENCER: Harold J. “Satch” McAfee 79, of 131 West Main St., Spencer died Tuesday Jan. 18 at his home.
He leaves his wife of 46 years, Joyce E. (Ward) McAfee, his six daughters Theresa A. Buckland and her husband Ken of Melbourne, Fl., Shirley L. McAfee of Oakham, Roberta M. Provost and her husband Norman of Spencer, Lori J. Godin and her husband Roger of Spencer, Wendy J. Casker and her husband Kevin of Westminster, Md., and Trina M. Lachance and her husband Dan of Ware, 12 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his daughter Kathleen McAfee in 1993 and sisters Barbara Sclar and Beverly Christiansen.
“Satch” owned and operated West County Radiator in Spencer for more than 30 years, retiring in 1996. He served in the United States Army. He was born in Worcester, son of George W. and Hazel S. (Jeffers) McAfee. He was member of the Hayden Lodge of Masons (Brookfields) AF & AM, Melha Shriners and member and past president of the Hadji Unit all in Springfield. He was a charter member of the Spencer Lions Club, and a member of the Nordic Lodge-Vasa Order of America. He was a longtime Commissioner for the Spencer Water & Sewer Dept.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday, Jan. 23 from 1 to 4 pm. in the J.HENRI MORIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 23 Maple Terrace, Spencer. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Walnut Grove Cemetery, No. Brookfield in the Spring.
