Beatrice C. “Bea” Blue, 79, of Fitzgerald, Georgia died Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at Dorminy Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M., Thursday, January 20, 2011 at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Keith Goodlett and Rev. Tom Hunt officiating. Interment will follow in Springhead Cemetery in Atkinson County. The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
Mrs. Blue was born July 29, 1931 in Pearson to the late Lester C. and Theresa Corbitt. She lived in Fitzgerald most of her life and was a former resident of Pearson and Nashville. Mrs. Blue retired in 1996 as a license examiner for the Dept. of Motor Vehicle Services in Douglas after 20 years of service. She was a member of Central United Methodist Church and the Georgia Peace Officers Association.
Mrs. Blue is survived by her husband: Charlie J. Blue, Fitzgerald; son: Lamar (Dianne) McDonald, Fitzgerald; daughter: Lynn (Jerry) Morris, Alapaha; 6 grandchildren: Jason (Lori) McDonald, Fitzgerald, Jennifer (Billy) Mix, Gray, Regina (Matt) Kimbrell, Nashville, Shauna (Ed) Branch, Lake Park, Justin McDonald and Josh McDonald, Fitzgerald; 10 great grandchildren; 3 stepchildren: Mary Elizabeth (Steve) Griffin, Pam (Glenn) Holley and Angela Blue, all of Fitzgerald; step grandchildren: Christian Blue and John David Grantham; brother: Johnny (Stella) Corbitt, Sylcauga, AL; sisters: Jean Perkins , Pearson, Ethel Hatcher, Spring City, TN, Thada Graham, Pearson and Rudy (Herman) Storey, Waycross as well as several nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by 2 sons, Ashley and Lanier McDonald.
