BROOKFIELD/MULBERRY,FL.: Robert L. LaPorte, Sr., 82 of 4160 Ryals Rd., Mulberry, Fl., formerly of Brookfield, Ma., died Sunday, Jan. 16 at Valencia Hills Health & Rehab in Lakeland, Fl.
He leaves four sons Robert L. LaPorte, Jr. and his wife Izabel of Worcester, Ronald L. LaPorte and his wife Michelle of Dayville, Ct., Richard L. LaPorte and his wife Lori of E.Brookfield, and Roland L. LaPorte of No.Brookfield, his daughter Ruth A. Matasavage and her husband Peter of No.Brookfield and their mother Ruth A. (Samson) LaPorte of No.Brookfield, two sisters Edna Simpson and Doris LaPorte both of Worcester, 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his brother Almorse LaPorte.
Bob was born in Worcester, the son of Almorse and Mae (Fontaine) LaPorte. He graduated from Boys Trade School in Worcester and later served his country with the U.S. Navy during WWII. He was a forklift driver for Publix Supermarkets in Plant City, Fl. for 10 years, retiring in 1998. At onetime he was a locksmith for Caola Bros. in Worcester. He enjoyed woodworking.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Jan. 20 at 11a.m. in the J.HENRI MORIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 23 Maple Terr., Spencer. A calling hour will precede the service from 10 to 11a.m. Burial will follow with Military Honors in Notre Dame Cemetery, Worcester.
