Marjorie Hines Stratton, 75, died Saturday, January 15, 2011, of heart failure. She was
born in Nashville on February 21, 1935, and was the daughter of the late John and
Lucille Hines. A graduate of West End High School, she was retired from St. Thomas
and Vanderbilt Hospitals.
She was married for 41 years to her husband Bobby until his death in 1996, and they
were longtime residents of Franklin. Mrs. Stratton was a quiet, gentle spirit who loved
and served God. She was an unfailing support to her family, rising to every challenge
whenever a loved one was in need. She had a creative gift and enjoyed painting,
knitting, gardening, and making stained glass windows.
Survivors include her children, Randall (Michele) Stratton of Burns, TN, Janet (Johnny)
Sisco of Nashville, Jennifer Sweeney and Jamie Carter, both of Franklin; seven
grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a foster daughter,
Karen Fike, two foster grandchildren, and three foster great-grandchildren. Other
survivors include her sister, Elaine (Carl) Corlew, brother-in-law, Bill (Faye) Stratton,
sister-in-law, Karen Stratton Wood, life-long friend, Sandra Edwards along with many other relatives and friends.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, January 22, at 11:00 a.m. at Woodlawn
Cemetery, with a reception after the service at Ellis Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers,
memorials may be made to Mercy Children’s Clinic, Franklin, TN, or Against the Grain
Ministries, Franklin, TN.
