David L. Morris, 74, of Sandown, NH died peacefully on Monday January 17, 2011 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Brookline, MA on February 15, 1936, a son of the late Colton G. and Arlene (Benoit) Morris. He was a resident of Sandown for 10 years, formerly living in Hampstead for over 50 years. David graduated from Hampstead High School. He later graduated from the University of New Hampshire in 1957 with a Bachelors Degree. He served in the US Army as a First Lieutenant, working in Missile defense in the Boston, MA area. David spent many years farming and raising animals, especially sheep. He later bought and ran a very successful insurance company called Morris Insurance Agency. He served on the Hampstead School Board for nine years as well as many other Boards and Committees. He was an active member of the Hampstead Congregational Church. He was on the Hampstead Fire department for several years. David was a founding member of the Hampstead Ski Club, which operated a rope tow at the farm. He enjoyed spending time with his family and they shared many adventures together. He loved to travel whenever he got the opportunity and especially enjoyed traveling the back roads of Vermont. He enjoyed boating and skiing.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia (Marshall) Morris, Sandown, three sons, Robert Morris and his wife Sandra, Hampstead, Ronald Morris, Barnstead, NH, Nathan Morris, Hampstead, one daughter, Lorin Morris, Derry, six grandchildren, Joshua, Rebecca and Seth of Barnstead, Lyndsay, Ethan and Riley of Hampstead, two great grandchildren, Taylor Greenwood and Samuel Morris, both of Barnstead, two brothers, Paul Morris, Newtown, PA, Alan Stewart, Nebo, NC, several nieces and nephews.
There are no calling hours. Following cremation, a memorial service will be held on Saturday January 22, 2011 at 11:00am at Hampstead Congregational Church, Main Street in Hampstead.
