Allan R. Reid, 73

Allan R. Reid, 73, of Charlestown formerly of Rehoboth and Attleboro passed away unexpectedly on Sunday January 16, 2011 at South County Hospital in Wakefield, Rhode Island.
Born in Pawtucket, Rhode Island on March 21, 1937, he was a son of the late Charles W., Sr. and Elsie M. (Gifford) Reid.
He grew up in Attleboro, was educated in Attleboro public schools and was a 1955 graduate of Attleboro High School. He had also attended the Rhode Island School of Design, studying graphic arts.
A self-employed landscaper, Mr. Reid owned and operated The Grounds Keeper Co. in Rehoboth for over 10 years prior to retiring. He was also the former owner of Forms Design in Rehoboth and also previously worked at the former Metal & Controls in Attleboro.
A former member of All Saints Episcopal in Attleboro, Allan loved the outdoors and especially being close to the ocean in Charlestown with his Maltese dog “Carter”. When younger he enjoyed and performed tap dancing. A resident of Charlestown for the past 14 years, he was a former longtime resident of Rehoboth and Attleboro.
He is survived by his son Barry A. Reid of Norton. The brother of Robert G. Reid of Norton and the late Charles W. “Chuck” Reid, Jr., he is also survived by his nieces Beth Ann Sarafian of Bridgewater and Jennifer Reid of Pawtucket and his longtime companion Gay Bishop.
Private services will be held at the convenience of his family at All Saints Episcopal Church in Attleboro. Burial will also be private and visiting hours have been omitted.
