WORCESTER-Gertrude H. (O’Leary) Howe, 83 of 10 Calumet Avenue died Wednesday, December 31st in UMass Medical Center. She leaves her husband of 61 years Francis V. Howe, a daughter Maureen A. wife of former Worcester County Treasurer Michael J. Donoghue, 3 grandchildren Colleen wife of Daniel Fahey of Auburn, Brenda wife Steven Seaver of Worcester and Thomas Donoghue of Worcester, and 2 great grandchildren. Her daughter Sheila M. Howe of Worcester died last year. She was predeceased by a brother Francis O’Leary of Worcester and a sister Patricia Daigle of Oxford.
She was born in Natick the daughter of Timothy J. and Margaret (McClellen) O’Leary. Mrs. Howe was a 1938 graduate of Sacred Heart Academy and Rob Roy Beauty Academy. She had worked as a processing clerk for Allmerica Financial, and had previously worked as a hairstylist. She was a member of St. Stephen’s Parish and a former member of the Passionist Guild. Mrs. Howe enjoyed being with family and friends and was an avid reader.
The funeral is Saturday, January 3rd from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with a Mass at 10:00 AM in St. Stephen’s Church, 357 Grafton Street. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours in the funeral home are from 4:00 until 7:00 PM Friday, January 2nd.
