Julia M. (Gomes) Gomes, 73, of New Bedford died December 30, 2003 at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center after a brief illness.
She was the wife of the late Lawrence Gomes, and daughter of the late Richard and Frances (Andrews) Gomes.
Mrs. Gomes was born in New Bedford and lived in New Bedford all of her life.
She was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Assumption Church.
Mrs. Gomes enjoyed travel.
Survivors include a son, Wayne Gomes of Atlanta, GA; 2 daughters, Carolyn Bandy of Freemont, CA, and Maureen Gomes-Lopez of E. Providence, RI; 4 brothers, James Gomes of New Bedford, George Gomes of Taunton, Richard Gomes of New York City and Mario Gomes of Boston; 4 sisters, Eva Gomes, Doris Fonseca and Jeanette Lima, all of New Bedford, and Rose Gomes of San Francisco, CA; 8 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was sister of the late Shirley Gomes-Carle.
