Obituary

Edward J. “Eddie” Costigan, age 70, of Brockton died Friday January 14, 2011 at the Victorian Mansion in Attleboro. Eddie was the devoted husband of Susanne (Gentile) Costigan. He was born in Boston, raised and educated in Milton, a son of the late Thomas and Mary (Fardy) Costigan. For the past 30 years he had resided in Brockton.

Eddie was a retired foreman for the Town of Milton Public Schools. He had also worked part time as a security guard at Milton Academy. He especially enjoyed golf and summers spent at his home at Ocean Bluff, Marshfield with his large extended family. He was a longtime member of the Elks Lodge in Milton where he was once Man of the Year.

In addition to his wife he is survived by his brothers and sister, Thomas Costigan of Florida, William Costigan his twin of Plymouth and Elaine Parks of Needham and many nieces and nephews. He also leaves his mother in law Susanne Gentile of Easton and sisters in law Patricia Gentile of Easton, Nancy Gentile and Alice Williams of Lakeville. He was the brother of the late Evelyn Costigan.

During his last years, Eddie benefitted greatly from the assistance received at the New England Sinai Day Care Center of Stoughton. His life and that of his family members was lovingly improved by the extraordinary care given Eddie at the Victorian Mansion of Attleboro. That care and the respect shown Eddie shall never be forgotten.

Funeral from the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton Wednesday at 9am. Funeral Mass in Our Lady of Lourdes Church at 10am. Burial in Calvary Cemetery. Visiting Hours Tuesday 3-7pm. Donations in Eddie’s name may be made to the Boston Marathon Jimmy Fund Walk (BMJFW), Team Lexie and Kristen, PO Box 3595, Boston, MA 02241-3595.
