Obituary

Rita I. Mann, 83, formerly of Chateau Clare, entered into Eternal Life Thursday at The Friendly Home. She was the wife of the late Melvin M. Mann.
Born in Woonsocket, she was a daughter of the late Leandre and Yvonne (Lefrancois) L’Esperance. She was a lifelong resident of the city.
Mrs. Mann was employed at the Social Department Store for many years and was also an AVON representative.
Rita was a very involved and committed parishioner of Precious Blood Church. She was the recipient of the 2nd Annual Precious Blood Church Msgr. Dauray Award for her many contributions to parish life among which were lector, counter, Bingo and Bazaar volunteer.
Rita was also volunteered for the Senior Citizens meal program and assisted in many activities at Chateau Clare, including chairing the holiday parties, flea markets and Bingo.
She is survived by a son, Mell Mann of Woonsocket, four daughters, Maureen Mann of Woonsocket, Pamela Sherman, and her husband David, of Wakefield, Donna Lambert, and her partner Robert Picard, of Woonsocket, and Kathleen Cullen, and her fiancé Barry Portman, of Woonsocket. She was the mother of the late Christine Mann. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren, and her sisters-in-law Vivian Allaire of North Smithfield and Pauline LeBlanc of Kansas.
Her Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday at 10:00 am in Precious Blood Church, Carrington Ave., Woonsocket. Visiting hours are Wednesday from 8:30-9:30 am, prior to Mass, in the Menard-Lacouture Funeral Home, 127 Carrington Ave., Woonsocket. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Franciscan Apostolic Sisters, c/o Sr. Lourdes, 94 Carrington Ave., Woonsocket, RI. 02895.
