IRIS (FORSYTHE) DAIGLE, age 80, of Newport, RI, formerly of Hingham, died on Thursday, Jan. 13th, 2011 at the St. Clare Home in Newport.
Mrs. Daigle was a Hingham resident for 45 years before moving to Newport 3 years ago. She was born in Quincy and graduated from Quincy High School in 1948, Bentley School of Accounting in 1959 and Suffolk University in 1967. A certified public accountant by profession, Mrs. Daigle was a senior accountant with Wolf & Co. of Boston for over 10 years. She was very active in Hingham town government and was a member and former chairman of the Advisory Board from 1985 - 1991; and was a member of the Board of Selectman from 1994 -1997. Mrs. Daigle was Past President of the Hingham Historical Society and an active member of the American Field Service. She also was involved in the annual production of Hingham Cabaret and enjoyed sailing with her husband and family at the Hingham Yacht Club.
She was the wife of the late Joseph Cray Daigle and mother of Andrew Cray Daigle and his wife Heather of Portsmouth, RI. Grandmother of Brook, Sydney and Parker Daigle all of Portsmouth, RI. Also survived by her sister, Patricia M. Twible of Goshen, NY and brother, George Forsythe and his wife D'Anne Hurd of Southborough, MA.
A Funeral Service will be conducted on Wednesday, Jan. 19th at 11 AM at the Church of St. John the Evangelist, 172 Main St., Hingham.
Friends may visit at the Downing Cottage Funeral Chapel, 21 Pond St., Hingham on Tuesday from 5-8 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Hingham Historical Society, PO Box 434, Hingham, MA 02043.
Interment in Hingham Center Cemetery.
