
Worcester- Vincent J. Piszczaka, 77, of 36 Upsala St., died Tuesday, Dec. 30, in UMass-Memorial Hospital.
He leaves a brother, John A. Palmer of Worcester; two sisters, Eleanor B. Piszczaka-LeBeau, and Jane H. Ducas, both of Worcester; nephews and nieces. Three brothers, Francis B., Joseph S., and Edward A. Piszczaka, and two sisters, Anne K. Toloczko and Helen C. Robichaud, all of Worcester, predeceased him. He was born in Worcester, son of Joseph B. and Anna G. (Piszczaka) Piszczaka, and lived here all his life. He attended St. Mary’s Schools.
Mr. Piszczaka was a housepainter for many years for Toloczko and Sons Co., before retiring.
He was a World War II U.S. Coast Guard veteran. Three days prior to the end of World War II, his unit torpedoed and sunk the last German submarine off Point Judith, RI.
He was a member of Our Lady of Czestochowa Church. Many years ago, he enjoyed skiing, fishing, and swimming. He played the harmonica, the piano, and the accordian. He also enjoyed reading.
The funeral will be held Saturday, Jan. 3, from HENRY-DIRSA FUNERAL HOME, 33 Ward St., with a Mass at 10:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, 34 Ward St. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours are from 2 to 5 p.m. Friday, Jan. 2, in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Central Massachusetts Shelter for Homeless Veterans, 69 Grove St., Worcester, MA 01605.
