David E. "Papa" Moon Sr., age 56, of North Stonington, passed away on the morning of January 13th, 2011.
He is survived by his wife Carol Fontaine Moon with whom he just shared his 35th wedding anniversary on January 4th. He is also survived by his children Melanie Moon of Norwich, David Moon Jr. of Griswold & Steven Moon of Dayville; his siblings Ronald Moon & his wife Mary Anne of Sharpsburg, GA; James Moon of Villa Rica, GA; Stacey Moon Thomas & her husband Cameron of Ladson, SC; Jennifer Moon Quinn & her husband Nick of Goose Creek, SC. David is also survived and will be greatly missed by his four grandchildren; Amber Royster, Kelsey Kenneth, David Moon III & Caidence Moon by whom he was known as "Papa" were the light of his life & the center of his world. He is also survived by several neices & nephews.
He was predeceased by his father William Glenn Moon and his mother Betty Clark Brown.
David served in the US Army for several years and worked as an auto mechanic for many more. Most recently, he was employed as a Security Supervisor at the Mohegan Sun Resort/Casino.
David suffered from heart problems and lung cancer. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends who will try to take comfort in knowing he won't struggle with his health anymore. He put up a brave fight over the last few years.
David's family will greet relatives and friends at The Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Historic downtown Mystic on Thursday, January 20th from 2pm-4pm with a prayer service to be held at 3pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
