Vlassakis, Faye G. (Johns) of Braintree formerly of Quincy, January 12, 2011, she was 80.
Beloved wife of the late Charles J. Vlassakis. Loving mother of John Vlassakis and his wife Patricia of Abington, Paul Vlassakis and his wife Janet of Hanover and Lisa Bonome and her husband John of Hanover. Sister of the late John Johns and stepsister of the late Virginia Contos. Cherished "Yia Yia" of Janine Vlassakis and her husband Greg Psomas of Brookline, Julea Vlassakis of Abington, Rachel and Leah Vlassakis of Hanover, John Bonome and his fiancee Lauren Fraser of Quincy, Scott, Eric and Michael Bonome all of Hanover. Faye is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Faye was born in New York and grew up in the Boston area. She was a 1948 graduate of Dorchester High School for Girls. Faye settled in Quincy where she lived since 1963. Faye worked for the City of Quincy as a secretary in the Building Department for 25 years, most recently for the wiring inspector before retiring in 1997. She enjoyed working at the polls for the local elections, volunteering for Meals on Wheels and was a lifetime Red Sox fan. Faye was a member of St. Catherine Greek Orthodox Church and Greek Orthodox ladies Philoptochos Society. Faye enjoyed her time at Sunrise in Braintree where she made many friends and was treated like family by all of the staff. Most of all Faye loved spending time with her family especially her grandchildren. She will be missed by all who had the pleasure to know her.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours Monday, January 17, 2011 2-4 & 7-9 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock Street, QUINCY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:15AM on Tuesday, January 18, 2011 prior to the Funeral Service in Saint Catherine Greek Orthodox Church at 10:00 AM.
Burial in Mt. Wollaston Cemetery, Quincy.
