Alan H. Molin, a resident of Stoughton for forty – two years, passed away at the age of 68 years on January 8, 2011, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Beloved husband of Bonnie Jean ( Monroe ), he was the loving father of Tonia Gill and her husband, Michael of Foxboro and Pamela O’ Connell and her husband, Scott of Bethalto, IL. He was a loving grandfather to Darby, Shealeigh and Cullen O’ Connell and Haley and Lillian Gill.
He was born in Plymouth, Massachusetts, the son of the late Edwin A. and Geraldine E. (McEvoy ) Molin. He was raised in the towns of Hanson and Whitman and was a graduate of Whitman – Hanson Regional High School.
He proudly served his country in the United States Army Signal Corp., Vietnam Theater, and was awarded the prestigious Bronze Star.
A graduate of Wentworth Institute and Stonehill College, he worked in the technical field for many years. Most recently he had been working as a Technical Writer for Lasermax Roll Systems, Inc. in Burlington, Massachusetts.
His many hobbies included woodworking and gardening; and he was an Amateur Radio Operator ( N1JXS ) and a member of the Whitman Amateur Radio Club and SKYWARN. He was a past member of the Stoughton Jaycees, a past member of the Association of Field Service Managers, a past member of the Stoughton 250th Anniversary Commemorative Medal Committee and a very active member of the First United Methodist Church in Stoughton, where he served as Treasurer for many years.
His funeral service will be held on Saturday January 15, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. in the First United Methodist Church, 103 Pleasant Street, ( Rt. 139 ), Stoughton. The Pastor Rev. Jan Eve Martin Parke, officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Stoughton. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Al’s memory to the Gifts and Memorials Fund of the First United Methodist Church, 103 Pleasant Street, Stoughton, MA 02072 or to the charity of your choice.
